Beiseker's Mascot

BEISEKER --> "SQUIRT" - the skunk

Some years ago it was decided that the Village of Beiseker needed a mascot which would leave a lasting impression on tourists and identify our community in particular. A public contest was held inviting ideas and drawings for a mascot. As a result, "Squirt" the skunk was adopted. Once the fun-loving caricature of "Squirt" was developed, plans were put in place for the construction of a larger than life replica of our mascot. Our "Squirt" statue is located in our campground and stands 13 feet tall. As well as the statue attraction, we also have a mascot street character costume which is worn at community events. "Squirt" pins, key chains, t-shirts, hats, license plates, postcards and Beanie bags are available for sale.

Hello,
I am trying to find the "living western town" that is supposed to be somewhere in the badlands in Alberta. I have a couple friends that claim to have been there, but cannot remember the name. I have searched andd asked, then searched some more, but the only answer I get is 'Crap, I forgot what it was called'. Can you shed some light on the mystery for me? I really appreciate your help,

We are coming to your province driving a are in Calgary May 17th. We want to visit Taber. Any other interesting place let us know we are leaving from Strathroy Ontario May 7th Our first stop will be Holland Mi.
I am reading about badlands in Taber, is that true? Further down I read that there are Alberta's best crops grown. What has that to do with badlands?

Regards John Timmermans

Hi,

I just bought a coffee cup at the Salvation Army here in Montreal and am very excited to discover that it comes from such a historically interesting place. I had never heard of Medalta before or knew about the pottery industry in the region. The historical area sounds fascinating so good luck with this endevour.

The cup itself is great. It is thicker than average and has hand painted maroon and green stripes. Is there a history of the company available?

Thanks!

I am now Klassen, my maiden name was Gardner, I knew the 2 girls Nettie and Mildred (tiny) We lived next door to them in Vulcan county Alberta. So awesome to see John Ware recognised. His family were a very proud family, and justly so.
Love to see his cabin again, and his gear. His family bible was donated by Nettie to our family church, and sits open on the pulpit.

I was born and raised in Medicine Hat until aged 15, our family left to join my father then serving in the Army overseas.

How wonderful to see the pictures of the pottery, much of which I recognised. My mother pused to store eggs in a deep lidded container in our basement, probably a bean pot.
